Specimens & Natural Materials

Natural items vary in size, shape, and color. These variations are normal and not considered defects.

Some items may contain small parts and are not suitable for children.

⚠️ Important: Geode Safety & Discovery Disclaimer

  • Eye Protection Required: Breaking geodes involves flying rock chips and dust. Safety goggles must be worn by all participants and observers at all times. The Naturalist Desk is not responsible for any injuries resulting from improper use or lack of protective gear.

  • Adult Supervision: This activity involves the use of hammers and chisels. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.

  • Surface Warning: Always break geodes on a flat, hard surface (like concrete or a thick wooden board) that you don't mind scratching or denting. Do not break geodes on tile, glass, or finished furniture.

  • Hollow vs. Solid: While we hand-select geodes known for being hollow (indicated by their lightness), geodes are natural volcanic or sedimentary rocks. We cannot guarantee that every geode will be hollow or contain specific crystal formations. Some may be "nodules" (solid stone centers).

  • Interior Variety: Nature is unpredictable! Inner crystals may range from clear quartz and white calcite to smoky quartz or amethyst. The size, color, and clarity of crystals will vary from stone to stone.

  • Dust & Debris: Breaking a geode naturally creates rock dust and small fragments. This is a normal part of the process.

  • Opened Items: Due to the nature of this product, we cannot accept returns or offer refunds once a geode has been cracked or broken.

  • Unique Specimens: Each geode is a "blind bag" experience provided by Mother Nature. We do not offer exchanges based on the interior appearance of the crystals.

  • Always burn candles within sight and follow standard fire‑safety practices. The Naturalist Desk is not responsible for misuse of products.
